Mayor Josh Broisous said he was happy to provide the funding to the department.
âThis is the least we could do for them,â he said. âThey are out there every day making sure our residents and surrounding communities are safe.â
Council member Jim Eister agreed.
âWe are happy to be able to provide them some money to get what they need,â he said.
Sunbury Fire Chief Jay Long said the department needed to replace some of the air packs, and they cost about $12,000 each.
He said he and the department were grateful to city leaders for the funding.
âThis will help us out,â he said.
Brosious said anytime the city can help the department, it will.
âWe want to make sure our first responders are out there with the best equipment possible,â he said.
